Salmon There has been no reports of fish taken since the last report on 8th August. There are fish on the beat which can often be seen early morning and late evenings. Like the rest of the river water is needed and plenty of it. It has been nice to see that greater effort to catch the king of fish is being taken by the use of the fly. Ihope those of you who have benefitted from the casting clinic will be rewarded witha bar of silver soon. Trout With the cooling of the river following the last rains more fish have started to show and don't appear to be suffering from the heat stress that was evident some weeks ago. I would recommend evening fishing with the dry fly witha small olive or a small blck knat. Over the past two weeks regular evening hatches of Late March Browns have been seen. They have been ignored by the trout which is normal but they will feast on them as spinner so keep your eyes peeled and have those spent spinner patterns ready. Keep the information coming in. Without your help I will not be able to pass it on. Work continues on the bank with trees being trimmed and the walk way at the top of the beat has now been strimmed and cleared so you can push up through without feeling your on safari. Tight lines. |
