| Fishing Report 2nd August 2005 | | Print | |

Trout. What a season it has been so far at Llan Farm. Trout have been caught a plenty with the Yellow May Dun and the Mayfly being responsible for a good few fish. Mark Waters informs me that he has had great sport in all conditions and that he has had a number of fish in excess of the 2lb mark to his net with some bigger fish not quite getting there. The trees along the bank above Danials Bath have been copised to allow for better access and easier fishing. A good place to fish are the many well oxigenated runs in that area. Medium Olives and Iron Blue Duns are on the water with the occasional hatches of the yellow May Duns and Mayfly. The Yellow May has accounted for a great may fish caught this year so far. Salmon. Salmon fishing has been poor this year up to this last week. There has been only one report of an 8lb fish on the fly prior to June 16th. The recent rise in water however brought fish in from the sea and four fish have been reported for the month of July all on the fly. They were fish of 8lb,9lb, 10lbs, and a bar of silver weighing 4.5 lbs. The smaller and bigger fish were taken by the Chairman Linsay Reynolds. John Galvin with his fresh 8lb fish taken on a Willie Gun waddington. Mark Roberts with his fresh 9lb salmon taken on a floating line a shrimp pattern. Linsay Reynolds with a cracking fresh 10lb salmon taken on a deep fished Willie Gun Tube. The truth is that the river needs more water to sustain any runs of fish. Those that have arrived already are searching out the deep pools in the middle stretches of the river. Keep me posted of any results that you have so I can keep you updated. Contact
