![]() Mr L Reynolds (Chairman)
The Gwent Angling Society was founded in 1964 to fish waters controlled by the now known Monmouthshire County Council (formerly Gwent County Council) The Society has access to two beats: Firstly, the LLan Farm, Goytre with about 3/4 of a mile of single bank fishing. The beat is situated about a mile below chainbridge. To be eligible for membership, a person must be in full time employment with Monmouthshire County Council or the council area formerly administered by Gwent County Council, or a retired member of those authorities. The Second beat is situated at Ty Mawr near Gilwern and has about a mile of single bank fishing and is open to club members and members of the public on an annual permit. The issuing of permits is subject to conditions layed down by the society. The Usk is a premier Salmon and Brown Trout river and both beats are situated in particularly beautiful and scenic areas of the Usk valley. The society prides itself on its friendliness amongst members and is committed to preserving fish stocks and the environment. The aim of this site is to act as a resource for all anglers interested in fly fishing and fly tying.
We aim to be a centre where anyone can ask any questions relating to the sport and we encourage active debate on those related subjects.
You will find that many articles are not directly linked to the River Usk but are associated with the sport in general. It is hoped that this will encourage a cross over of information and ideas so that all may benefit.
We are aware that the beats under our control are only held in trust and that we have a great responsibility to them and to the anglers of the future.
We hope you will enjoy the site and if you have any comments or contributions that you would like to give, then by all means contact us.
